You can start this mountain bike ride from anywhere in Larkspur (such as just Rulli's on Magnolia Ave), but the Strava data below is from the bike trail near Holcomb Lane. It's a great 20 mile ride with about 2600' feet of elevation gain and it takes you through Ross, around Phoenix Lake, up Eldridge Grade (a staple mountain bike trail) to the top of Mt. Tam, and down Old Railroad Grade, Hoo-Koo-E-Koo, Roller-Coaster Ridge and down through the streets of Corte Madera. With all rides, watch your speed, particularly down parts of Roller-Coaster Ridge which can be very fast and steep.

Strava Data For Today's Short Mt. Tam Ride
Very late to discovering Strava, but love it so far. Here's the data on my out-and-back ride from the center of Ross, around Phoenix Lake, and up to just over 1000' high on Eldridge Grade:
Eldridge Grade from 665 Feet
The Marin Water District needs water, but the good news for Mountain bikers is that the trails are dry. Here's a shot from one of three short steep sections on Eldridge Grade. Get out an ride!
